There’s SO MUCH going on in Microsoft Teams as a product, how do you even start to talk about it?! In this blog series I’m going to attempt to work my way through the letters of the alphabet, talking about as many features as I can think of in turn.

If you’re new to Teams, hopefully this helps you find your way around. If you’re not new to Teams, maybe you’ll still get some new ideas. Here we go…

V is for Viva – the other modules!

I’ve already written 2 previous blogs about Microsoft Viva, but there are lots more Viva modules available and coming.

To avoid this becoming an actual Viva blog (of which there are others that are super!) – I thought I’d use V part 3 to outline the rest of the Viva modules, why you might be interested in them, and where you can find more info on them.

The real benefit of all of them is that you meet people where they are. If you’re already using Microsoft tools across your organisation, you can keep your info secure and avoid having to use third party tools (which can be costly) for all these use cases:

Viva Connections

If you want to stand half a chance of building a company intranet that your employees might actually use because the content is dynamically specific and useful to them – check out Viva Connections.

You need to be willing to spend the time segmenting your internal audiences and thinking through which content goes where (you would have to do this with any intranet project) – but the benefit will be employees seeing content curated for them, accessible directly from Teams and with a great mobile experience.

Viva Engage

Maybe one of your challenges with your remote workforce that is spread across the globe is that they don’t connect with each other? Maybe you want your leadership team to have a more direct route to communicating with employees.

Or – maybe you just miss Yammer and want it back!

In all cases, Viva Engage is worth looking at.

You can create community forum style spaces to get people connected, share content and run polls or q&as as well.

Viva Amplify (coming soon)

Not yet available, Viva Amplify is one that anyone working in Internal Communications should get really exited about. It will streamline internal campaign management by allowing you to plan, create, send and analyse the results of internal communications campaigns, without needing to use a third party application.

Viva Glint

If you don’t already have a a way to put metrics around how engaged your employees are, Viva Glint could be the place to go.

You can create sentiment surveys that allow you to measure employee engagement and create follow up actions to improve scores. It also links to Viva Insights so you get a feel for employee behaviour too.

Viva Pulse

An app to compliment Viva Glint, Viva Pulse lets managers and project leads send quick feedback surveys to their teams to track progress – only they can see the results, analytics and suggested actions off the back of those surveys.

Viva Goals

Help managers and employees ensure that their professional development is on the radar, and their goals and objectives match those of the company’s using Viva Goals.

This app gives a really easy way to keep employees on track with their targets, and they don’t have to leave Microsoft Teams to see their progress.

Viva Topics

Viva Topics lets employees share their knowledge in a strategic way and with the help of AI.

Again, if you are willing to keep on top of things like defining subject matter experts, acronym definitions and information for your organisation, this tool looks like it could be really powerful.

For example, reading a newsletter in my org, I could click on a mention of AI and find the person who is an expert in it in my org, and reach out directly to them to ask questions. Less hunting around for who can help me, and I can get my answers quicker!
